Yesterday's filming

Yesterday, we went out shooting as planned. We managed to shoot all the footage we need in Bottisham, so we didn't need to go to Burwell or Histon. I feel the filming went really well, and the Alice in Wonderland theme also worked well, and looked good when we were filming. I took some pictures on my phone, of the the shoot, which are below.

The old car behind our performer looks mysterious and gives the shot a more interesting feel, with the trees in the background.

We chose this doorway to shoot in, because it frames our performer really well.

This is the barn location we shot in, our performer wore her 'normal' clothes for this location. Behind her is an old, abandoned car. We chose to shoot our performer through the wooden beams, because it makes the shot look mysterious.

This is the barn location. The ivy growing up the wall and on the roof, makes the barn look fairy tale-ish, which suits our Alice in Wonderland theme.

This is another location we shot at, and the weather stayed nice for this. I think this shot also worked well, because the trees give the effect that our performer is in a forest.

Today's filming

Today, we are going out to do our filming. Our first location will be in Bottisham. I am going to meet Angelica and Liam in Bottisham at around 12:45pm. I checked the weather forecast again this morning. The forecast for today has changed from 'Sunny Intervals', to 'Light Rain Shower'. We should be ok, because it shouldn't rain too much. We will have to watch out for Monday though, because it says 'Heavy Rain', and we are hoping to film at our location at Long Road on that day. We will have to be carefull that the wig does not get too wet, due to the rain.

Alice in Wonderland

For our music video, we want our performer to be dressed in Alice in Wonderland style clothes, make-up and hair.
This is a picture I found on Google images, of the cartoon character Alice. The hair in this picture is how we want our performer's hair. We have the wig, which is the same style and is blonde. Our performer also has hairbands with bows on, which will complete the hairstyle.
Angelica has a dress, that our performer is going to wear on the shoot. It is a different style to the Alice in Wonderland dresses, but it is fairy tale style, and will suit our performer in our video. Angelica has also looked at make-up that our performer is going to be wearing. They are false, black feathery eyelashes, which look fairy tale.

This is similar to the bow hairband that we want our performer to be wearing.

Plan for tomorrow's filming

We are going to be going out filming tomorrow afternoon, with our performer in the different locations. I don't have to work tomorrow now, so I will be able to join Angelica and Liam on the shoot. The weather forecast has changed, and it says that there is meant to be light rain for tomorrow. This should be ok for us to shoot though.

We are hoping to shoot more footage at Long Road on Monday. The weather forecast says it's going to be sunny on Monday.
We have a camera and a tripod, which we can use to shoot with tomorrow. I also have the tape, and we have all the props we need for tomorrow.

Wig

Liam went and collected the blonde wig this morning, that I reserved on the Argos website yesterday. We have looked at it, and it looks suitable for our performer to wear in our music video.
Below are some pictures that I took of the wig:

This is a picture I took of the wig, when it's not being worn.

Jahmal kindly modeled the wig for me, so I could take a picture to show what it looks like.

Reserving the wig

I went on the Argos website, to see how many of the wigs we want, are in stock in our area. I then reserved one, which Liam will be going to collect tomorrow morning. Below are some screen grabs of the reservation I made.

Props/costumes we will need for the shoot

When we do our shoot (hopefully on Saturday), we will need to make sure we have these props/costumes.
  • Blonde Wig- we have decided we will use the wig that I found in Argos (Liam will be getting this on Friday)
  • Dress- Our performer will be wearing a dress in our video (Angelica has a dress the performer can wear)
  • Hairband (preferably with a bow)- To make our performer's style more like that of Alice in Wonderland, we want her to wear a hairband with a bow on (I have a black hairband with a bow, and our performer has some hairbands with bows on aswell).
  • Chair- We are hoping to be able to have a chair we can use in our shoot. We need to find a chair we can use.
We will also need:
  • To book a camera, so that we can shoot over the weekend. We will need to make sure that the camera battery is charged, so we don't have to worry how much time we will have to shoot.
  • I have a tape, so I need to make sure that we have this on the shoot.
  • We will also need a tripod.

Plan for today

This afternoon, we were planning on going out and doing some filming, because we have no timetabled lessons. Our performer is not available now, unfortunately, so we can't go out shooting today. We will have to film on the weekend. The weather on Saturday is meant to be sunny, so this is probably the best day to shoot. We have to see which day of the weekend our performer is free.
Below is a screen grab of the five day forecast from the website.

For us to be able to film over the weekend, we need to book a camera out, and other equipment, such as tripod. We will have to ask Nick about this tomorrow.

Magazine advert draft

This is the magazine advert that I have designed. I am going to put this idea into Photoshop, like I will with the digipak designs, and the CD design, when we are back at college.

Digipak draft ideas

I have come up with 3 ideas for my digipaks, and also an idea for the CD design. I don't have Photoshop at home, so I had to print out pictures before half term. I still need to think about what fonts I could use for my digipak, but I will do that when we are back at college. Also I will put these ideas into Photoshop, and add the fonts, institutional information and barcodes to them

This is the first design that I came up with for my digipak.

This is the second idea I came up with.

This is the third idea that I have come up with.

This is the CD design that I came up with.

Digipak and Magazine advert

Over half term, we have been set a piece of work, where we have to come up with a couple of drafts for our digipaks and also make a draft of our magazine advert. I have printed out some CD digipak templates, and some of the pictures I took from yesterday's test footage shoot and also from when we went out to look for possible locations/textures. I will take some pictures of my digipak drafts when I do them, and upload them onto my blog.

Test footage 2

Today, we edited our second lot of test footage. We have decided that because we like some of the footage from our second test shoot, we might use it in our final music video. Below is the video of our test footage.

Very rough cut w/o lip syncing

Today's lessons

In this afternoon's lessons at Coleridge, we are going to edit our second lot of test footage, which we will then upload onto our blogs at the end of the day. Below are some pictures that I took of the test footage shoot we did yesterday. The girl in the pictures, is our performer.

Digipak ideas

In this morning's lessons, we were experimenting with ideas for our digipaks. Below is a screengrab from Photoshop of me working on a digipak. When we go out and shoot some more test footage this afternoon, the stills pictures that I'm going to take will be useful for my final digipak and magazine advert.

Plan for today

This afternoon, we have no timetabled lessons, but our performer is free so we are going to go out and shoot some more test footage with her. I am going to take some pictures of the shoot, to help with the digipak and to put on my blog.
We are going to shoot at Long Road again, in the same place as we shot our test footage on Tuesday. We will need one of HD cameras again, and also a tripod. I have my own stills camera to take pictures of the shoot.
Hopefully, we will be able to edit the test footage we shoot today, in tomorrow's lessons. Also I will upload the pictures onto my blog tomorrow.

Test footage

In this afternoon's lessons, we shot some test footage of the different shots, in the woodland location at Long Road. We shot the footage of the shots we had in our storyboard. We are hoping to go out and shoot some more test footage on Thursday afternoon, with our performer. The test footage we shot today is below.

This morning's lesson

In our first lesson this morning, we did planning for our test footage shoot, which we will be doing this afternoon. We thought about which different shot types we want to shoot, what props we might need and where we are going to do our test footage shoot today.

Locations for test shoot
  • Trees near the art block (at Long Road.)
Props/Equipment we will need
  • Chair? (There are lots of old chairs around near the art block, which is where we are going to shoot our test footage.)
  • HD camera
  • Tripod
  • Stills camera
Different shots we are hoping to use
  • Close-ups
  • Long-shots
  • Extreme close-ups
  • Mid-shots

Plan for today's lessons

We have come up with a plan for the three lessons that we have today.

1st lesson (10:50-12:20)- Plan what/where we are going to be shooting in the this afternoon's lessons.

2nd lesson (1:05-2:40)- Shooting our test footage. Look at different shot types to see which work best. We will be shooting without our performer (we are hoping to shoot with our performer on Thursday afternoon.
Get a stills camera and take pictures of the location/shoot.

3rd lesson (2:40-4:10)- More shooting of our test footage if we need to. Upload what test footage we do have and start editing it.

WEEK PLAN-8TH FEBRUARY

MONDAY 8TH- We only have one lesson today, due to the Individual Learning Plan afternoon. In the one lesson we have, we will be doing some more planning/blog work.

TUESDAY 9TH- We are not at Coleridge today, so we are planning to shoot some footage of different shot types and locations at Long Road.

WEDNESDAY 10TH- We have no lessons today, due to the Individual Learning Plan afternoon.

THURSDAY 11TH- We have no lessons in the afternoon, and our performer is free, so we are hoping to be able to go out and do some more test footage of our performer and the location.

FRIDAY 12TH- We are going to edit our test footage from Thursday, which we then need to upload onto our blogs.

Performer

Angelica has found someone who can perform in our music video. She is free on Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. This is good for us, because we finish early on Monday's, and we have no timetabled lessons on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. This means we can now plan when we are going to go out and shoot our footage, with our performer.

More costumes...

For the Alice in Wonderland style costume, we were hoping to find a long, blonde wig for our performer to wear. I found one in an Argos catalogue, which is the style we have been looking for. The cost for this wig is £9.99. I took a photo of the wig, which is below.
